Britton Farmer of Wallins, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday morning of September 21, 2019 at the age of 90.
Britton was born August 9, 1929 in Harlan Co., KY to the late Robert and Catherine Gambrel Farmer. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War; he was a graduate of the Combat Command “B” Sniper School. He was a retired Coal Miner, having previously run the Buffalo Bumpers in Harlan for several years before going into the mines.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, June Orick Farmer; son, David Allen Farmer; brothers, James Gorden “Bud” Farmer, Robert Farmer, Jr, Vernon Farmer, Thomas Farmer, Clifford “Red” Farmer, and Frank “Buddy” Farmer; sisters, Opal Pinachio, Jean Patrick, Nora Marlow, and Betty Sue Scott.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Janie) Farmer; grandchildren, Bethany (Cannon) Moore and Ryan Farmer; great granddaughter, Harper Farmer; sister, Vina Duncan; sister in law, Kathryn (Eugene) Asher; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
In keeping with Britton’s wishes a simple graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday (Sept. 24) at the Park Howard Cemetery in Wallins, KY with Rev. Buddy Simpson officiating. Military rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
